BCB Announces Exciting New Women’s Cup Tournament in May

A New Era Begins: BCB Launches Inaugural Women’s Cup!

The cricketing landscape in Bangladesh is buzzing with excitement! The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced a thrilling new domestic initiative: the BCB Women’s Cup. Set to ignite the pitches of Dhaka from May 5 to May 14, this tournament promises to be a spectacular showcase of talent.

High-Octane Action with Eight Elite Teams

With the traditional domestic league facing setbacks, the BCB’s Women’s Wing has stepped up to ensure our stars stay match-fit and sharp. This tournament will feature a massive lineup of 112 players across eight competitive teams, all hand-picked based on their stellar performances in the previous Dhaka Women’s First Division Cricket League.

Player Welfare and Incentives

The BCB is pulling out all the stops to support our athletes. Not only will the board provide full accommodation for players and coaching staff, but they have also announced a generous match fee of BDT 25,000 for every participant! To keep the competitive fire burning, prize money will be awarded for:

  • The Champion Team
  • Player of the Tournament
  • Various individual performance accolades

A Packed Calendar Ahead

The excitement doesn’t stop in May! The cricketing calendar is absolutely jam-packed for our women’s team:

  • May: The debut BCB Women’s Cup.
  • Coming Up: An intense home series against the Sri Lanka Women’s national team.
  • June: The players head to England and Wales to represent the nation in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
  • July: The highly anticipated inaugural Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to launch!

The Women’s BPL is expected to be a monumental event, featuring three franchises battling it out across Bogura, Chattogram, and Dhaka. It is a fantastic time for cricket fans, and we cannot wait to see our players shine on the national and international stage!
